Construction projects are expensive, even the smallest things will require high amounts of money. Sometimes you are trying to improve your house but you do not have the budget, then it is time to step in and learn how to do things for yourself. Skirting boards are a decorative element that is present in all the rooms of your house and installing them is not as hard as you may think. On 4 steps we will teach you how to do it.
Before you start any kind of renovation, remember that safety goes first. Protect your eyes and hands. Clean your workspace and make sure that no one interrupts you or enters while you are using power tools. Keep children and pets away from the area. Once you are done with all of this, you are ready to start working.
Measure your wall as many times as you need, for this project you need exact numbers. Translate those measures to your skirtingboards, be careful and draw a straight line before you make any cut.
The first cut you must do it at a 45 degree angle, follow the lines and measure you made previously. Use a handsaw, remember to have protection for your eyes and hands.
3. Be Careful with the Scribed joints
Measure the 45 degree and cut from bottom to top. The joints must feet perfectly on every corner so pay special attention to this step.
4. Attach the skirtingboards
Secure your skirtingboards with a nail gun, this way they will not detached from the wall with time. Before you attach them, make sure that everything fits perfectly, there are no do-overs when you are working with wood.
Once your skirtingboards are installed, apply a layer of varnish to protect them. Do not paint them before the installation.
